Domain mapping – Godaddy

  • Unknown's avatar

I set my my domain through Godaddy by proxy through Google, so I only interacted with Google in my setup. I am now trying to get my domain name “pichonandpetunia.com” to point to my wordpress site “pichonandpetunia.wordpress.com”

I went through and paid my $13 to have the domain mapped to my wordpress site. I have gone to the GoDaddy website and I have changed the nameservers to the three I was told to change them to. I then went and made sure my primary domain was the wordpress domain, so that anyone visiting pichonandpetunia.com would automatically be redirected to the wordpress site.

My problem is that I apparently did all the right things, but when I go to pichonandpetunia.com, I get a 404 error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Non-WordPress.com Nameservers
Although pichonandpetunia.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.

We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Your name servers are as follows:
    NS55.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
    NS56.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

If you have access to change the nameservers for this domain, please remove all nameservers not on the required list above.

If you have addressed this then note what follows please. It can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at pichonandpetunia.com, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, and try again.

Thanks for the help. Apparently when I changed the nameservers the first time, for some reason, it did not take. Now it seems to be working fine.

Perfect, we’ll close this out. Cheers!
