Domain Mapping Gone

@sevenintheocean I think there’s an issue with your actual domain registrar. As martisiq mentioned your domain is tagged as on hold. That seems to indicate a problem with your registrar:
This status code tells your domain’s registry to not activate your domain in the DNS and as a consequence, it will not resolve. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes, non-payment, or when your domain is subject to deletion.
@martisiq don’t worry, I wasn’t ignoring you I just had to go to bed :) I just cruised your site again and all the pages seem to work fine (your paintings are gorgeous BTW). Everything should fall into place on your end soon :)
As for the domain registration, I just wanted to mention it because some people think that when they map a domain it also takes care of the registration and that tends to end badly.

Hi martisiq and stothek –
This may be a supremely dumb question, but who/what is my domain registrar and how do I resolve the issue? I think it might have something to do with a payment, although according to my most recent bank statement, WP charged me the $13 necessary to keep my domain open…I just can’t find a record of that charge anywhere on my PayPal or WP accounts.
Is there any way to resolve a domain registrar issue myself or do I need to contact WP for further help?
Thanks so much!!

Hey there!
Your domain mapping fee doesn’t cover the actual domain registration. That is just to point an existing domain to your WordPress.com site.
Your registrar would be the place you purchased the domain from originally. You still have to keep the domain registration active through them. According to http://who.is/whois/sevenintheocean.com the name is registered by gandi.net. That might not be who you bought the domain from since often times hosting companies will use a third party for domain registrations.

@sevenintheocean – If you bought a hosting package it probably included domain registration. But if you are not renewing your website hosting, that company is not renewing your registration either.
You should go to Gandi.net and click on renew and then follow their instructions. It looks like your registration was supposed to renew on Feb 15 – which coincides with the date of the loss of your site.
Sign up for email renewal notifications too while you are at it!
