Domain mapping incomplete; says domain not registered?
-
Seems that the domain mapping for my site failed.
I purchased winglithium.com through WordPress on Sunday, and have waited patiently for the DNS to update as the diagnostic suggested. My site still will not load even after the requisite 72 hours and is flagged as not registered/expired by the diagnostic, although in my settings it shows I have the domain until January 24, 2016 (11 months from purchase date, rather than a year?). My Paypal was charged at the time of the transaction too.
I believe a debug thread has already been flagged and I have emailed in some details on it already, but there has been no traction yet.
1. Can someone help me get this working? That is winglithium.com being properly registered and mapped to winglithium.wordpress.com
2. Why is the registration for my domain only 11 months from purchase date rather than the described 12 months in the ToS and non-legal literature?Note: I can see my WordPress site just fine using the WordPress URL, it’s just the domain that is failing.

Hey Sarah,
Looks like the domain is still available for purchase. The purchase did not go through. I have marked this thread for one of the staff to look into. Meanwhile go ahead and buy the domain if it is possible from the store.
If you are able to buy the domain will ideally get mapped automatically.
The registration validity is shown as 11 months so that the domain renews on time. The notifications to renew, start showing up 11 months to ensure that the renewal happens by 12th month at the latest. It is just a precautionary measure. The domains are still valid for a year. -
Hi simplysaru, I’ve already tried the suggested and was met with “pay more money”, “too late for a refund”, “pick a new domain name”, hence why I made this thread. There’s something wrong on the WP side. :/
Thanks for flagging it to staff though.
Details on my side:
– the renewal of the domain is in my upcoming charges so it /is/ registered, but the receipt is not in my billing history on WordPress
– the charge was however completed against my Paypal account. The appropriate amount has been deducted; I can provide the transaction ID if needed.
– while the domain name is listed as free by the “Find a new domain” tab in the Domains section of wp-admin, there is the error of “The domain name you entered is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog”
– since 48 hours have passed I can’t cancel the domain registration either according to the WordPress side of things, so I can’t free up the .com version I want.Sorry to be rude, but this is something that the WP team needs to sort as I apparently have no options on my side other than “pick a new domain name and get charged again for a service that was not properly rendered in the first place”
And frankly that is not an acceptable option.

I do understand the frustration. Sorry about the issues. The staff will sort this for you.

I know they will. I’ve never had a problem before, which is why this is so boggling. >.<

Hi there!
I’m sorry about that. I’ve removed the domain from your account and added credits. Can you try re-registering the domain here:
@plieb40 – These threads can involve a bit of back and forth. Can you please open your own thread and add the tag modlook with the details about your domain?

Thanks Shawna.
I just re-registered and got my updated receipt. I suppose I’ll checking in the morning to make sure everything is working the way it should. :)

I just took a look and your domain registered correctly this time! When I visit winglithium.com I see your WordPress.com site.
Let me know if I can help with anything else!
