Domain Mapping Inquiry

  Hi,

  I have a question regarding domain mapping I can’t seem to find the answer for.

  Ideally, I would like to design my website with wordpress and use my domain that is currently hosted by another provider. I would like to keep my current provider if possible, but want to avoid paying hosting fees to two companies.

  I understand that in order to map a domain I will need to upgrade my wordpress plan – but does this mean that I will need to continue paying for a premium wordpress plan on top of my current hosting fee after mapping my domain?

  Or can I remove the premium plan after my wordpress website has been connected to my domain, since the website is being hosted elsewhere?

  Sorry if anything is unclear – I am very new to this and appreciate any input/assistance.

  Hi there,

  If you use any paid plan You can use custom domain for free.
  If you are paying for any plan at wordpress.com that means you are paying for the hosting over here.

  Then you dont need to pay to your hosting company . Just pay for the renewals of the domain.
  Wordpress.com paid plan covers your hosting.

  If you want to use wordpress on your hosting company kindly consider using wordpress.org installation.
