Domain Mapping Issue

  • Unknown's avatar

I am having an issue with my Domain mapping for my wordpress blog I can access my site through http://thurstytraveler.wordpress.com but when I type in the domain that I own ( thurstytraveler.com ) and paid to map to wordpress into my browser it says it cannot find the address. I went into my DNS settings and deleted all the @ A-registries in eNom and added the NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, NS2.WORDPRESS.COM, NS3.WORDPRESS.COM to the DNS and used the CNAME for those. It has been over a day since I did this but I can still not even see wordpress come up when I type in the URL http://thurstytraveler.com It says it does not exist. Any information on where I went wrong or how I should proceed would be greatly appreciated. For further info I am using Google Chrome and I purchased the Domain through Google as well.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry additional info I did add thurstytraveler.com to the blog under Settings Domains in WordPress, I turned off thurstytraveler.com as the primary when nothing was showing up when I typed it in. I changed the primary back to thurstytraveler.wordpress.com so that I could still access my blog.

Don’t have a clue what you did with the CNAME etc – but when I mapped my last domain I didn’t do anything with that – just change the name-servers then map the domain –

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

Takes 24 to 72 hours for everything to change.

    Track the changes here: http://www.whatsmydns.net/

It takes anywhere from 24 to 72 hours for a DNS change to actually propagate through all the tens of thousands of internet name servers although it will typically take 24 or less, but is completely dependent on how many DNS changes are queued up waiting. This is something that is outside of your control, or wordpress’s. You just have to give it time.

The primary nameservers at your registrar for you domain name have to point at wordpress.COM’s name servers. Right now they are still pointing at

    Name Servers:
    dns1.name-services.com
    dns2.name-services.com
    dns3.name-services.com
    dns4.name-services.com
    dns5.name-services.com

Delete the cname stuff and point the main DNS to the wordpress.COM nameservers.

Just wondering, have you got your domain mapped successfully yet?

I mapped my domain on Dec 5th and still haven’t got it, more than 24 hours now.
