domain mapping issue

    Hi I have tried building a new website with WordPress but never had time to really learn how …….I now have the time BUT WordPress will not let me map my domain as I must have asked for it to be mapped before but I have no idea of where or how to reset the account so I can start afresh – Please Help …..

    Hi,

    can we have the url of your site please ?

    Domain mapping is a paid service on WordPress.com, yes, and requires one of our paid plans.

    And while it’s possible to transfer a domain to us without a plan, setting your transferred domain as primary on your site, so it’s the domain visitors see in their browsers, likewise requires a paid plan.

    Hi the domain name is osteopath.co.uk – there is an old existing website hosted by Hostway.com which will be dropped once wordpress site is finished – so I would like to pay for the mapping service and I have chosen a theme as well ” Natural” – Many Thanks for your help

    Hi there,

    I see that you have two WordPress.com sites connected to your account. Which one are you wanting to map to?

    In order to use your domain hosted elsewhere with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to change the domain nameservers at your domain host, and point them over to WordPress.com. Our nameservers are:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    As @osteonewsite referenced, you’ll need to purchase the mapping subscription upgrade as a part of a paid plan so that you can map your domain over to your WordPress.com site.

    Hi osteonewsite is the one I will keep and use for the new website – apologies for such basic questions but I have no idea why it says osteopathink ?!?
    I try and input my domain name and am unable to proceed as it says there is already domain mapping on this…is this domain mapping linked to osteonewsite ?
    I would like to pay for the theme “Natural” but not able to proceed on two counts 1) it says domain mapping already in place and 2) unsure of whether it will ink Natural theme to osteopathink !!!??? Please let me know how to reset my account to allow for domain mapping of osteopath.co.uk and to buy the plan Natural … Many Thanks – Nigel

    Hi Nigel, I think the confusion comes from the fact that you have at least 3 different WordPress.com accounts.
    The domain you mentioned has already been mapped from the account nigelg01. You will want to log into that account to manage the site and the domain.
    If you wish, you can also move the site to your other account, osteonewsite, for that, you’ll want to follow these steps:

    We would also be able to move the plan for you, however, you’ll need to request it from the account that owns the subscription.

    If you don’t remember the credentials to the correct account, please check out this page and fill out the Account Recovery form:

    Hi Thankyou so much for your time and help – I am afraid I did dabble with creating a couple of websites but never had the time so am left with old accounts that I am trying to delete as they are stopping forward progress …osteonewsite is the new valid account I need to have up and running for http://www.osteopath.co.uk, with the theme “Natural”

    You mention I can request you to move my domain to osteonewsite from the account that owns the subscription…this I have not been able to work out !!!! sorry

    I have deleted spineworx account / as far as I can tell there is now “nigelg01” and “legingilder”

    Any help you can give as to which account has the subscription you mention would be great

    And this account you’re logged into right now, too. Can you log out here:

    Then log in as nigelg01 ?

    Then if you want to add the other user(s) you can:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

    Just be sure to log out and log back in as each user prior to accepting the invitation.
