domain mapping mx records

  Is there anyway to setup custom DNS MX records for a domain before I change the nameservers to wordpress.com for domain mapping? I don’t want to lose any emails during the transition.

  Hi there,

  I’m sorry but it’s not possible to set the MX records before you change your name servers.

  You’ll need to change your name servers and map your domain, before you can add your MX records.

  Your best bet would be to make this change during evening hours to minimize any effect that this will have on email. Generally, mail servers will automatically attempt to redeliver email, so the impact on your email should be minor in any case.
