Domain mapping / new server hosting

  • Unknown's avatar

I had domain mapping set up for 1057inlondon.wordpress.com to go to 1057inlondon.co.uk… I recently purchased hosting through tsohost and wanted to now host my blog (url would be 1057inlondon.co.uk) through them but whenever I try to log in to: http://1057inlondon.co.uk/wp-admin/

    It shows me this message:
Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

We can’t assist you with logging into the dashboard of your self-hosted site.

Your domain is not registered with us, and as you have cancelled your mapping upgrade it is no longer hosted with us either.

Your free WordPress.com site can still be found at https://1057inlondon.wordpress.com/ and you can access that site’s dashboard at https://1057inlondon.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

But for help with accessing your new self-hosted site you’ll please need to either contact your web host, or post in the WordPress.org forums, as we don’t provide support for self-hosted sites here: http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.

    Hi kokkieh,

I thought that if I cancel it I would be able to log in through my hosting but they say my name servers need to be changed to theirs in order to do this… does that mean I have to pay for mapping again??

This is all very confusing and would never have cancelled it -after only having it for a few months if I knew this was the case??

I changed my dns settings to point the site to their server but there’s still a wordpress error: Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain :/

  • You don’t need to pay for mapping here again, no. You only need mapping if you want to use the domain with a WordPress.com site. If you want to use it with a different host, you’ll need to set up mapping there.

I checked, and your domain’s name servers are now pointing to tsohost.co.uk. Is that where you’re hosted now? When I load your domain I also see a WordPress.org site, so it appears to be working now.

If you’re still seeing the WordPress.com error, it could be one of two things:

    1) The old site’s IP address is still stuck in your browser’s cache. In that case clearing the cache should fix this.

    2) The name servers haven’t finished updating. This can take as long as 72 hours, so during that time some people will be able to see the correct site, while others won’t, depending on where in the world they are. Give it a few more hours, then clear your browser cache and check again.

Let me know if you have more questions about this.
