Domain mapping not working

  • Unknown's avatar

Together with my domainhost (de heeg) we tried to get the blog ondernemerswerkplaats.wordpress.com under my domain ondernemerswerkplaats.nl But it keeps giving this commend:

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

I have a domain-upgrade (I bought the full package) which included domain-mapping…so we seem to have a problem? Please help me…i am getting tired from this technical jungle.
    Thanks, Hanna Kerkhof

    Howdy,

Could you please try to add this domain, ondernemerswerkplaats.nl, at Store -> Domains in your blog’s dashboard?

Don’t hesitate to contact us again if you need anymore help. :-)

    Hello Chris,

thank you for the quick answer :)) But sorry….I did this already before, something like 30 times. It’s still the same. They still suggest on my domain ondernemerswerkplaats.nl the suggestion that I need an upgrade?

    Thank you, Hanna

  • You should be able to map your domain following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

Can you please quote the error you see?

I did do exactly what was written in the link you wrote. Even my domain registrer company did and they also could’nt find the way. The only thing that is written in my dashboard is:

Someone (maybe you?) already registered ondernemerswerkplaats.nl, but the domain is not pointing to WordPress.com.

And what is written on my domain (I wrote it down before) ondernemerswerkplaats.nl :
Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

So it seems to me, after phoning several times with the technicians of my domain-register, that the problem is that wordpress (or the system) doesn’t see that I bought a WordPress Value Bundle including domain mapping!

I feel also by now that I am treated like an idiot: Althought I am not an engineer or anything like that (I am a product designer), I can read instructions and follow them! So it feels by now after 5 days of trying, I am not patient enough any more to hear things like ‘did you read this’ or did you do what’s written overthere. I did!!!

So now I hope and expect a real solution here. One that’s not written in the manual.
Sorry for not being patient anymore,
    Hanna

  • It looks like your nameservers are still pointed elsewhere: http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/ondernemerswerkplaats.nl

Per the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/ they need to be:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

After calling with my domain registrar it turns out that they really tried to point my domain to wordpress, but the way wordpress wants is does not match with there system. (There system is not supporting it the way wordpress needs it)

Since it is an impossible road to travel, I decided to move my domain to wordpress. But found out that moving my domain to wordpress is not possible?

If the domainmapping is not working this is my only option! So please is there a possibility to make this possible?

  • Do you mean that your registrar won’t allow you to change your nameservers?

If so, I recommend transferring to a registrar that allows you to have full control over the domain name that you own.

No, I have full acces to my domain and it’s completely mine. But it has something to do the way there system is build and the mapping doesn’t match with wordpress.

  • Your nameservers still don’t match what we need, though: http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/ondernemerswerkplaats.nl

I’m curious as to why they won’t let you change them, as we do have a few .nl domains mapped here. Have you talked to them about this?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, I know the nameserver is not pointing at wordpress anymore…it didn’t work, so I asked them to change it back. I asked them what was the problem and could they specify it, they were very serviceminded so they did:
“It is not possible to use external nameservers with domains registered with us”
They adviced me to move my domain to another registrar who supports using external nameservers. So I quess I found one, I need to hear from them probably in the morning (it’s now 9.30 in the evening here), so I will be sure they support this, then I will move my domain and map it to my wordpress site. Hopefully this time with success!

Too bad wordpress doesn’t support moving my domain to wordpress, it would have been much easier?
Thank you for your support and patient, although I lost my patience…I have good hopes in the morning it will be solved. And in the meantime even thinking about a new name….always try to see new advantages in a problem….you never know were it leads to.
