Domain mapping not working?
-
Hello,
Wondering if someone can help me with my domain mapping. I had a blog here which I upgraded today to premium. I wanted to map a domain I already own (www.therecycledweddingcompany.com). I bought this domain from Etsy when I set up a pattern site over there. I believe I changed the DNS records correctly though the Etsy side was not set up very clearly. However on wordpress it still says I need to configure the DNS records and gives a list of records it says are present that need to be removed but when I go to the dns records I can not see them-only the ones I was told to add. Not sure if its just the time frame needing to go through but I don’t want to wait 72 hours if I’ve done somethig wrong as I have no website at the moment! Many thanks for any help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,

The DNS for therecycledweddingcompany.com aren’t yet pointing to WordPress.com. As you mentioned, DNS can take up to 72 hours to fully update once they have been changed. How long ago did you make the change?
Did you use the name servers listed here?:
Just let me know and we can go from there.
Thanks!

Hello. Thank you for the quick response. I made the change this morning. I used the names listed there and I think I added them correctly.

Hello,

Ok, in that case let’s give the DNS a little more time to update. I’ll keep checking the domain to see if there is any change. If not, we can talk through what you’ve added :)

Thank you! I had this error message on wordpress which made me think maybe I had done something wrong!
Although it seems therecycledweddingcompany.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.
To learn about how to correctly map an existing domain, please see our documentation. If you’re not sure whether you own this domain or not, the WHOIS database record may help you out.
Less Information
We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
Your name servers are as follows:NS1.P05.DYNECT.NET
NS3.P05.DYNECT.NET
NS2.P05.DYNECT.NET
NS4.P05.DYNECT.NET -
Hi therecycledweddingcompany,
I had this error message on wordpress which made me think maybe I had done something wrong!
That message is prompting you to add WordPress.com name servers but if you have already done so, the DNS may just need more time to update.
If you are worried about whether you have entered them correctly, I can follow up with you by email so you can send me a screenshot of the name servers you have added.
-
Thank you. I have taken a screen shot of the DNS records and uploaded it to my media library.
-
The screenshot was a big help, thanks! I can see you added our name servers as CNAME records. They need to be added as NS instead. Do you see that option in your account?
-
-
In that case, remove the CNAME records you’ve added and use these two A records instead:
192.0.78.24 192.0.78.25 -
