domain mapping – obtaining IP
-
Hi,
I need to make a domain I originally got from Wix point to my WordPress blog. Wix are asking me for the IP address – does anyone know how I could get it? I tried emailing WordPress support and havan’t gotten a response so far. Just wondering whether there’s another option I’m not aware of.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can map your existing domain to your WordPress.com site.
You need to point the domain name servers to the ones listed in this below link.
Please check the link for more information about how to map an existing domain to WordPress.com
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/Hope this helps.

Hi, this is sadly not helpful at all, as my host (Wix) is asking, as I mentioned, for IP addresses, not DNS servers.
My question is how to obtain the IP address of my wordpress blog.
Thanks!

Hi marinaberlinsite,
Are your trying to move your domain registration from Wix to WordPress.com ?
If yes, WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.
Or are you trying to move your site’s hosting from Wix to WordPress.com ?
Please let me know so I can try to help you better.

I’m trying to do neither.
I’m simply trying to map my domain, purchased from Wix, to a WordPress site.
The situation has changed, actually, since I’ve just acquired the IP address I needed.
Unfortunately, when I try to use the IP address in the CNAME (to map the www. and m. sites) Wix tells me the WordPress IPs are an “invalid domain”). If you know anything about this or can help it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi
The only way I am aware of domain mapping is using DNS name servers and following the steps in the link
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/I would suggest you check the process once again with Wix and find out what information you will need.
Also please check this previously answered question on the same topic.
According to this I see that Wix does not take Name server of WordPress and the only option is to transfer to a new registrar but WordPress.com does not accept incoming domain transfers.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-transfer-my-domain-from-wix-to-wordpress-note-not-mapping?replies=3But if you are sure you need the IP, I will add “modlook” tag in the side bar so a staff member can help you out. They will try to help you as soon as possible.
Hope this helps

HI again,
Is this what you are trying to do ?
https://www.wix.com/support/html5/article/connecting-a-wix-domain-to-an-external-siteThis is a scenario when you are using something other than Wix as your host. Is that what you intend to do ?

Ok I see what you are trying to do.
Here is a link to what you need.. IP Address For Domain Mapping
https://en.support.wordpress.com/ip-addresses/Please use the form in the link to request for the IP address.
Hope this helps.
-
P.S. Note: WordPress.COM blogs do not have permanent IP addresses. IP addresses here can and do can change over time and your domain may stop working if you rely on them. For more information about domain mapping and IP addresses please read https://en.support.wordpress.com/ip-addresses/
Please tag threads like these for Staff, vijjisite.

I tried emailing WordPress support and havan’t gotten a response so far.
Also, note that when bloggers contact Staff by email threads like these are redundant.
-
thanks @timetheif. Just figured it out :)
@marinaberlinsite, hope you will get the IP addresses soon with staff help.
-
So if they already contacted staff by email, what should we do ?
Just let them wait for response or try to help ? or add ‘modlook’ tag ? -
hope you will get the IP addresses soon with staff help.
They are here in the thread I linked to above:

I said that because I don’t know how often the IPs change and I thought they would give him the latest ones. Missed seeing the date that its todays post. My bad.

@vijjisite
I enter every thread that has to do with domains and upgrades with my lifesaver firmly secured. I do not know what to do to prevent those who cannot swim well yet in the shallow end, let alone, being able to swim in deep water from diving head first into the deep end. lol :D -
