Domain mapping payment issue.

    Hello dear Sirs and Ladies,
I have been trying to do a simple domain mapping but your system does not accept either my Visa or my debit Mastercard. Is that due to the capital controls issue or is it something on your end? To my knowledge the Greek government (yes, I reside in Greece) now allows small payments abroad, so I do not think $13 is an issue. GoDaddy accepted my VISA a few weeks ago, when I got the domain (although with a bit of help from the very helpful customer support), and that was $38. Could you please help me?

  • Hi there. The problem might be with PayPal, as all WordPress.com transactions are handled by them. I suggest you try contacting them and find out if they currently allow payments with cards issued in Greece.

If it turns out PayPal isn’t supporting Greek cards, then you could also try ordering a prepaid card from a country that is supported and use that to buy the upgrade.

See here for more information: https://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

I think PayPal is still an issue, I didn’t know money orders go through them. Thanks a lot, I’ll try a foreign prepaid card!

    Hi there,

You can also contact your bank about that payment problem — it’s possible your bank is blocking transactions with WordPress.com, even if your cards work for other payments. In that case, you can ask them to allow the payment to go through so you can purchase domain mapping.

If you continue to have trouble with this, please let me know!
