Domain mapping pricing?

Do I need to the premium pricing option to map to a domain I already own, or would the basic option suffice?
Thanks.

Hey @jsklair,
Every Paid plan comes with free Domain mapping service :)
“You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain, or transfer one you already own, and then you can map as many additional domains to the same site as you want at no additional cost.”
but registration costs at your current provider still apply

Thanks !!!

Thanks @arvindsinghu
The reason I ask is when I go through the WordPress domain mapping link, it defaults to select the Premium subscription, with no ability to change it.
I read elsewhere after initially posting above that this has been an issue since the middle of 2017.
This appears to be a slightly underhand ‘nudge’ to increase revenues.
This does not help WordPress’s reputation.
Please click though yourself, and see whether this is an issue visible at your end.
If so, please instruct the best way to map my own domain, but with the “personal” paid plan as opposed to the “premium” plan.
Thanks.

Adding the domain first does default to Premium. If you prefer to pick Personal or Business, the way to do that is to add the plan first from My site > Plans. You can then return to the Domains menu and add the domain then before checkout or after purchasing the plan. It works either way, but the plan just needs to be added first.
Hope that helps!
