domain mapping problem
-
url tapebox.co.uk now directs to my wordpress blog – header is there and page titles but on home page I get this:
Not Found
Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.
All the other pages on return a 404 error
I checked the forum and followed the advice I found, but it doesn’t seem like the standard nameserver propogation wait. The redirection is happening but the site content seems to gone awol.
I haven’t set the new domain as the primary domain because of this problem.
Have I missed something here?
Blog url: http://danhayhurst.wordpress.com/ -
I can load your blog correctly in this location: http://tapebox.co.uk/ – I’m not seeing an error message. Are you still having this issue?
Note that your custom domain is not currently set as the primary domain on your blog. This means that when visitors enter “http://tapebox.co.uk/” in their browser’s address bar, they will be redirected automatically to “http://danhayhurst.wordpress.com/”
You can set your primary domain under Settings → Domains. Read more about this on the Domain Settings support page.

when I use http://tapebox.co.uk/ here it seems to redirect to this: http://tapebox.co.uk/Tapebox/Home.html, and that either shows the old website or the WordPress blog, depending which computer I use. I’ve tried reloading pages/deleting cookies/restarting.
If it goes to the blog, the url that appears in the address bar is: http://tapebox.co.uk/Tapebox/Home.html, shows the blog header etc and return the page not found error.
I didn’t change the primary domain because ‘tapebox.co.uk’ seems to be problematic. For instance, I’ve just updated it and now direct links to danhayhurst.wordpress.com get a page not found error too.

I get the same as @ranh, even when I try to open http://tapebox.co.uk/Tapebox/Home.html directly, which redirects me (correctly) to a not found http://danhayhurst.wordpress.com/Tapebox/Home.html
This might have to do with cache and cookies on your side (instructions on how to clear those are here) or even with your computer’s DNS cache, which you can flush, by following the instructions on this page.

thanks for the help @ranh @vanillalounge – it does appear to work fine now.
just one more question. http://www.tapebox.co.uk directs to http://tapebox.co.uk/Tapebox/Home.html as you’d expect, and of course then it’s page not found. I know WP doesn’t use the www but is there a way for people typing in the url with the www to be redirected to the correct page i.e. http://tapebox.co.uk/ ?
thanks v much

They can be used interchangeably, don’t worry. We automatically remap the “www” URL to the “non-www” one. Try to visit http://www.tapebox.co.uk/ to see it in action.

much appreciated thanks. I think the main problem here has been the cache. seems good now.
