Domain mapping problem
-
Hi – I have a new blog on wordpress and have been trying to domain-map it to a domain I registered via GoDaddy. It works intermittently, but sometimes it doesn’t (when this happens I will either get an “unable to connect” page, or a generic GoDaddy page.)
Here is what I did: On GoDaddy, i changed the name-deservers from the ones GoDaddy had (ns21.domaincontrol.com, ns22.domaincontrol.com) to the ones that wordpress told me to use (ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com, ns3.wordpress.com). Also, under the CNAME menu, I changed the “www” category to post to “ns1.wordpress.com. I’m not sure if that was necessary, but I used to have the blog at BLOGGER and they had me enter ghs.google.com, so I figured I should change it to something else.
Also, I entered the godaddy domain under OPTIONS on my dashboard.
SO, as I said, it works sometimes, and othertimes not. Did I do anything wrong?
(blog is bigheadphones.wordpress.com; GoDaddy domain is http://www.bigheadphones.com)
Thanks,
Eric -

I’m having the same problem. I changed the mapping at the site where my domain name was parked to the wordpress site using the same technique they say to. I also paid WordPress the $10 as required for the extra service. That was a month ago and my site is still unreachable without the wordpress label in the address. Cannot contact support. I’ve never been online when it wasn’t ‘temporarily closed’. Because of links, the site is unusable until this is corrected.
As it should be: opedinfo.com; as it is: opedinfo.wordpress.com
Does anybody know how to fix this?

Cannot contact suppport? If you hang out for one hour and fifteen minutes, they’ll be open. And you can always email them at support at wordpress dot com.
