Domain Mapping problems

  I am trying to map my blog to a web address. I have been doing this from last 5 years. Last year due to some reasons I could not renew it. Now when I try to map it, the system takes me to the plans, where as I just want to map and not opt for any further plans. Is there a way to get the mapping done without taking the plan, as it was available earlier or am I doing some thing wrong. Please help by replying as soon as possible and also send me the link to the upgrade of mapping only. Thanks.

  Hi mark5films,

  As per WordPress terms:

  You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain or map one you already own. You can map as many additional domains to the same site as you would like, but you have to pay for additional mapping upgrades separately.

  So it seems you would need to purchase a plan to map to your existing domain.

  Thank you @khyati for your detailed response. Just want to know that, WordPress has stopped giving access to just the domain mapping as it use to give us earlier at 13$ per year?

  Hi VK,

  Domain mapping for mark5films.in expired last year. We no longer offer it as a standalone upgrade so you will need to purchase a plan. The Personal plan is the cheapest option if you are upgrading primary to map a domain:

  Each paid plan includes a domain credit which can be used to map an existing domain or register a new one.

  Hi Gemacevans,

  Thanks for your prompt response, at least now I won’t look for the stand alone link at every corner of my dash.

  I think I will take a personal plan and do the needful.

  The another question is regarding SEO of my website. Can you tell me about it, because I am unable to understand meta tags and title edits of the website when it comes to WordPress blogs. May be this is a very generic approach to the issue in hand, please bear with it, I am not a professional, I hope you would understand.

  I am unable to understand meta tags and title edits of the website when it comes to WordPress blogs.

  The Business plan includes some additional SEO tools which include meta descriptions and custom title formats. You read more about them in this guide:
