Domain Mapping questions

I just read through the support section on Domain Mapping. I have a questions that were not covered
(1) Must I contact WP.COm support before starting the procedure or they just bill me after I follow the procedure to do the mapping?
(2) After the change is made what does the reader see if he types in the old address?Is there a re-direct service provided in the beginning so that reader can find the blog?
(3) Besides google – how else could domain mail be handled?

1. I’ve never mapped, but as I understand it when you start the process, and they determine that the domain name is available, then you will be given a link to pay for the domain name and mapping through paypal.
2. If they type in the old address they will be redirected to the new address and your blog here will be there.
3. Domain mail right now can only be done with the Google MX thing.

I appreciate your responses but they aren’t exactly answers to my questions though I am sure you mean well.
1. I already have a domain name so care not about the availabilty. I was asked about beginning the actual mapping process itself. Perhaps someone who has been through the experience out there knows what I am attempting to ask.
2, So are you answering that if the OLD OR NEW address is typed in that the re-mapped blog will be arrived at or is there just a note to refer readers to the correct name to type in when the old address is typed in. That was my question.

1: no, you do not have to contact staff, you just begin the process from your Upgrades page.
2: It depends which URL you set as primary: the choice is up to you, which one you set as primary.
