Domain Mapping / Renewal

  I renewed my domain mapping via WordPress as I’d received a notification that it was expiring. I also received a notification from Netfirms about the expiry. When I go into my control panel on Netfirms it says my domain is not manageable through there, so I wanted to make sure that when I renewed via WordPress that it renewed my actual URL and that I don’t have to also do it through Netfirms.

  Hey there,

  Just so that we’re on the same page, we’re talking about the domain beanthinking.ca, yes?

  If so, what you renewed with us was your Domain Mapping. A product which allows you to point your domain at us and which lets our servers respond correctly when they get requests for the domain. It isn’t the actual domain registration.

  I did a whois lookup for your domain (which gives some information about it) and it looks like beanthinking.ca is registered through a company called “Tucows,” though Netfirms may be a reseller for Tucows. You might want to write in to Netfirms and see if they can shed some light on the subject for you!
