Domain mapping – returns error message
-
Hello. I created a blog recently, thespectrum.wordpress.com, and I’m trying to map my domain thespectrum.ml to it, but it returns an error message that says “Sorry but thespectrum.ml has not been registered yet therefore cannot be mapped.” I’ve changed my domain name servers to NS1.WORDPRESS.com, NS2.WORDPRESS.com, and NS3.WORDPRESS.com, as specified, but it doesn’t seem to work. If it helps, I registered my domain with Freenom.
Could someone please help me out? Thanks in advance.

Seems to be going around these days
The staff need to manually add a zone record for you
I have flagged this for the staff to help

I added a zone record for thespectrum.ml. Can you please try mapping it again now and let me know if you run into any problems this time?
-
-
Certainly! I just added a zone record for schildertrends.nl. Please try the mapping again.
-
@designsimply – I tried mapping the domain again, but it gives me the same error. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for helping out.
-
@bloodveld, as long as the name servers were updated to point to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, NS2.WORDPRESS.COM, and NS3.WORDPRESS.COM through your domain registrar and that change has propagated, I think it should work.
To confirm, thespectrum.ml is the correct spelling of the domain you’re trying to map?

I also get the same error. It says schildertrends.nl can’t be registered on WordPress.com. I did change the name servers to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, NS2 and NS3.

@marcelenjittystuij, did you follow the instructions and change the name servers for schildertrends.nl to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, NS2.WORDPRESS.COM, and NS3.WORDPRESS.COM through the company where you purchased your domain? You need to do that first before you can add the domain mapping on the WordPress.com side.

@designsimply, it’s not working yet, but I changed my domain name servers again. I’ll wait for a while and see whether it works. Thanks.

-
@designsimply, I changed it at the time of my posting. I’ll keep you posted as to whether it works or not, but even if it doesn’t, never mind. I’ll just leave it for now.

@bloodveld and @marcelenjittystuij, can you please try the following and let me know if it works?
@bloodveld go to https://thespectrum.wordpress.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=domains&action=search_form&intent=map
@marcelenjittystuij go to https://schildertrends.wordpress.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=domains&action=search_form&intent=map
1. Enter your domain and click “Go.”
2. Ignore the warning.
3. Click the button that says, “Yes, I already own this domain name. Map it to my WordPress.com blog.”Let me know if it still doesn’t work and I’ll see if there’s anything I can figure out to help get these domains mapped in a different way.

@designsimply With me it doesn’t work. It says I have to pay €13 a year, but I already paid at my hosting.
-
$13 per year is the fee WordPress.com charges to map a domain you purchased elsewhere to a WordPress.com blog.
I checked your marcelenjittystuij WordPress.com account and I don’t see any other WordPress.com plans purchased for that account.
Maybe you are trying to map in the wrong way? What hosting did you already pay?
