Domain mapping – returns error message

Hi marcelenjittystuij, I think we may need to step back and clarify some terms to make sure we are talking about the same thing.

There are two initial parts to setting up a website address online. One is the domain name and the other is web hosting. The domain name is just that, the name only. Web hosting is server space where you can store the files that will power your website. Sometimes where you setup the domain and where you setup web hosting are the same place and sometimes they are not.

Now, with WordPress, there are a few different possible configurations you can choose. One of those possibilities is to buy a domain somewhere else (which you have done) and map it to a blog you setup at WordPress.com. However, it is also possible to setup the free, open source WordPress software at another company, such as hostnet.nl

First you need to decide where to host. It sounds to me like you want to store your files at hostnet.nl and if that is true, then you do not need to change the name servers to point to ns1.wordpress.com etc., but you need to find out what name servers your web host hostnet.nl requires and use those.

Hopefully this explanation helps! (And apologies if I overexplained.) :)

If your end goal is to use WordPress.com as your host and not hostnet.nl then please let me know.
