Domain Mapping routes to original website

I own calebjross.com and wanted to have a visitors who type in calebjross.com be routed to my WordPress site, but with the calebjross.com url maintained in the browser bar. I changed the DNS settings at my registrar (1and1.com) to the WordPress servers. I then clicked in my WordPress domain settings to “put blog here” under the calebjross.com domain. All worked well for a day. But now when I type in calebjross.com I am sent to the original site (the non-WordPress site). How can I go back to seeing the blog when I type in calebjross.com?

Any ideas? All is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Would you possibly be looking at it from a different computer now? Clear your cookies and your browser cache and then reload the page and see what it says. Sometimes you’re just looking at an old version.

It takes time for the change to occur. I clicked your username above and got the blog at http://calebjross.com/

Thank you. This surprisingly simple move worked for the IE browser, but I noticed that when I tried to use the Mozilla Firefox browser the original website is displayed even after clearing the cache and cookies. Do you know of any known issues like this with Firefox?

(I checked the forums for browser issues but found only issues dealing with themes appearing awkwardly)

thistimethisspace – are you using IE or Firefox?

No problem with either firefox 2.0.0.7
or IE 7 – I just checked using both.

Cool. I’ll have to keep checking local settings on my computer. I truly appreciate both your help.

I am having the same problem. Everything was working fine all day yesterday after changing the dns on my hosting company and today I have tried from several computers using about 4 different browsers and they all take me back to my original website in stead of my blog. marioh.com

I get taken to an empty wordpress blog using the Digg theme. There are three flicker photos on the side bar.

Is that where it should go?

    Caleb,

Did you finally get WordPress to work right with your 1and1 hosted domain? I notice that you have a blog up on the calebjross domain now, but is it provided by 1and1 or not? I am thinking of moving my 1and1 blog hosting to a WordPress hosted blog (but keeping 1and1 domain hosting) because the WordPress features that are offered by 1and1 are too limiting. Is that why you switched?

    Thanks!

If you click this link http://calebjross.com/ when you are signed into wordpress.com then you will see that the blog is hosted by wordpress.com – You can tell because you can see the bar wordpress.com navigation bar at the top.
