Domain Mapping – server not found
-
Hello,
I have just switched my blog (decoder.com.au) over to WP as i cant ger blogger to work properly. I am using everyDNS.net to control my DNS records and have configured my “ns” records to point to NS1,NS2 and NS3.wordpress.com name servers.
I have also selected the option within wordpress options to redirect my wordpress blog address (lukemccallum.wordpress.com) to my domain name.
Alas however i cannot access my blog using my domain name. I am simply getting firefox “server cannot be found” errors.
Using OpenDNS I have performed a cache refresh and all appears well with all name servers pointing to 72.232.101.25.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why i cannot access my blog via my domain name as this is most perplexing.

It depends on how long ago you changed the name servers. It can take up to 48 hours for even your ISP to have the right DNS for the domain. Right now, http://www.decoder.com.au/ is still pointing to blogger for me (if that is the right URL) but once the DNS propagates throughout the internet, it will be pointing to wordpress.com. I would leave the domain as your username.wordpress.com for now until you know the DNS is completely across.

Thanks for the rapid response Trent, i did it about 24 hours ago.
I also just performed a little test using everydns.net.
Before the test I had an A record configured to point to 72.232.101.25 as well as NS records pointing to the appropriate wordpress nameservers.
To see what woudl happen i removed the A record and did an OpenDNS cache refresh. This caused the worldwide name servers to “NOT RESOLVE” the domain name.
Does anyone know the correct DNS configuration for everyDNS?
Also taking into account my use of Google Apps for email. -
I wouldn’t forward requests to wordpress.com but rather move all DNS entries to wordpress.com. There is a quick “button” to re-enable google aps for email once wordpress.com can see the complete DNS. I think that may be part of the problem here?

Ah well therein lies another problem.
I use CNAMES to hook into my other Google Apps services which apparently I cannot do if I delegate my DNS directly to WP.Someone out there MUST use a similar setup to myself and have it working?
-
Ok well I have changed my NS records away from everyDNS directly to ns1,ns2,ns3.wordpress.com and activated the Google MX option.
However now nothing works! even blogger doesnt show up!
DNS is so frustrating!

DNS is definitely frustrating. Give it some time for the change to make it through the internet.
