Domain Mapping Still Not Resolved After 64 Hours
-
I tried contacting support about this at the 50 hour mark, but I still have not received a response. When I check the dns propogation status at intodns.com, seven errors appeared. Most of them are connected to this, which seems to be the primary error: Mismatched NS records (https://intodns.com/drewsparkman.com). HostGator Support correctly changed the nameservers to the three WordPress servers and I have a personal plan with WordPress.com. All the documentation I have read about this states that this process takes between 24 and 48 hours. I would love some feedback.

Good morning!
I’ve got a few questions to help us figure out what is happening with your domain.
Do you already have content that you are trying to point the domain to?
Is it here at WordPress or at Hostgator? If your content is here at WordPress, just pointing the Nameservers isn’t quite all there is to it. I recommend you double-check all the steps in the following help article to be sure all is copacetic at the WordPress side:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/let us know how you make out!

No problem! We will get this figured out.
Are you planning on moving your content to WordPress.com or leaving it at Hostgator?

I think I will need to move everything. The reason I moved to WordPress is because I want to add a blog to my site, which is a simple professional portfolio. I think that I will need to move everything to WordPress for design reasons: all of my custom CSS will not be possible for the blog subdomain.

An alternative would be to ask Hostgator if they will install WordPress for you. That way you would be able to retain your custom CSS, AND have a blog. Of course you would have to point your nameservers back to Hostgator.

I just contacted HostGator and had them redirect the nameservers. I have no idea how to use WordPress through HostGator, though. Thanks for the suggestion.

They already have WordPress hosting!
https://cl.ly/0x2L16202v3JUsing WordPress hosted someplace else (“Self-hosted”) gives you much more flexibility with plugins, configuration, custom CSS, etc. The following support page talks about some of the advantages to self hosting, as well as support options available:
