Domain mapping to Blogger
-
I’m trying to move my custom domain name from WordPress to Blogger and I can’t figure out the CNAME part. Blogger is asking me to enter the CNAMEs on WordPress, but I don’t see anywhere to do that. Help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Anyone? I’m reading all the instructions and posts on this forum about it, but I can’t figure it out.
Blogger gave me two CNAMEs but there is no place on WordPress to put them. Blogger also mentions A-records but I have no idea what mine are or where to put them on WordPress.

If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#update-nameserversApparently Blogger has some other requirements so I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

I’ve tried changing the nameservers. I’m assuming the CNAMEs Blogger is giving me are what I put for the nameserves in WordPress. It tells me they are not valid, though.
-
Will you please post exactly what Blogger sent you for requirements into this thread? Then when Staff get to it, it will take less time for them to provide the help you need.

Here you go:
On your domain registrar’s website, locate your Domain Name System (DNS) settings and enter the following two CNAMEs:
Name, Label, or Host field Destination, Target, or Points To field
www ghs.google.com
clasngygffg4 gv-p5gfaqgi6p3fgs.dv.googlehosted.com
See our detailed instructions on providing CNAMEs for various registrars or see the full settings instructions for more details. If you are having trouble entering the second CNAME to dv.googlehosted.com, you can verify your ownership of this domain with a TXT record through the Google webmaster tools here instead.
If your domain provider supports it, download the DNS settings file. -
Thanks for posting that info for Staff. Know that they deal with threads by serving those with the earliest datestamps and time stamps first and move forward to those with the most recent date and time stamps. Please be patient while waiting.

This seems like a pretty common problem, but nobody knows how to do it?
All I want is to be able to customize my site. I guess I should have gotten my domain through GoDaddy and downloaded WordPress.org instead of doing all of this. It’s turning out to be a whole lot of hassle. Is there a way I can just get on WordPress.org instead?
Ugh. Wasting my whole weekend trying to go this.

I found these instructions on WordPress.com:
Update NameserversThe nameservers control where traffic for the domain goes using DNS. If you are moving from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you can enter the nameservers provided by your web hosting company to switch your domain to their hosting service.
See the support page Change Name Servers for detailed instructions.
How do I enter nameservers provided by my web hosting company if WordPress is my web hosting company and they won’t give me anything?
-
Staff do know how to handle this. Unfortunately, it’s a weekend so you will have to wait for their help.

Hi there,
I’ve gone ahead and updated your DNS records so that you can point to blogger correctly as described in their help articles.
Please note that this did require a nameserver change, so you may get an email at your address on file.
These changes also are DNS changes, so will require between 1 and 72 hours to fully propagate throughout the internet.

Thank you SO much for your help!
One final question — my domain is still registered with WordPress.com, correct? It just redirects to Blogger? So when it’s time to renew my domain, it’ll be through WordPress.com? Just want to make sure I’m understanding everything!
-
Yep, that’s it exactly! Now if you want to change that, you can at any time. I don’t believe that you can transfer your domain to blogger, but you can transfer it to any number of other registrars such as GoDaddy.com, 1and1, iPower, etc. You can read our help article about how to transfer your domain right here:
And if you have any questions, just let me know!
