Domain mapping to GoDaddy hosting not working, even with instructions
-
I’m trying to redirect the domain xinperformance.com to a GoDaddy hosting account. I’ve followed the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/mapping-a-domain-registered-with-wordpress-com-to-a-site-hosted-on-godaddy/
but it’s still not working. GoDaddy says that the nameservers also need to be pointed to them. What’s going on?

Hi there,
In order to point your domain to GoDaddy, you’ll first need to change the name servers back to WordPress.com. You can do that here:
https://xinperformance.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Click “Edit Domain” then “Name Servers” and select the “Use WordPress.com Name Servers” option.
Then, you’ll need to set a custom A record as explained here:
To obtain that A record, you might need to contact GoDaddy customer service and ask them the following:
Hi,
I’m trying to map my domain to GoDaddy using an A record rather than name servers. Could you let me know the IP address to use?
Can you give those two steps a try?

Hi- Thanks for your response. I’ve tried, and even though everything seems to be pointed in the right direction: http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=dnsrec&host=XINPERFORMANCE.COM
I’m still getting a parked by WordPress message. -
Never mind- cleared the cache and it seems to be working like a champ. Thanks for your help!

Hi- I’m back. I’ve changed the A name to the correct IP, but it’s still not getting there. GoDaddy is saying it’s an issue on your end, this should be a pretty straightforward thing, but it’s turned into a weeklong odyssey of pain. Please help!!

Hi,
It looks like the A record was set correctly on my side. I went and also added a CNAME record to direct the www version of your domain to xinperformance.com. This establishes what is called a canonical domain and offers several benefits.
Can you let me know what version of your domain you have entered at GoDaddy (www.xinperformance.com or just xinperformance.com)? It should be the latter.

Hi there,
Can you double-check on last time that the IP address provided by GoDaddy is the same one inserted in as the A record currently? The A record is currently set as follows:
23.229.231.226 -
Yeah- the A record is correct. I’m at the point that I’m ready to transfer the domain, but I’m worried that it’s going to cause even more issues. Could you take one last look to see if there’s anything on your end that could be causing this? I’ve never, ever had an issue like this before.

Working now- not sure if you did something, but thanks!
Wonderful! It’s working on my side as well. Please let me know if you run into any additional issues.
