    Hi there!
    In the second sentence of
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
    it says

You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain

You need to purchase a domain upgrade before you can do this:

    Best,

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for replying.

So, just to clarify – although I’ve just signed up with another host, I still need to get WordPress domain mapping?

    Cheers
    Nick

    Hi Nick
If you are trying to get the domain from another host to point to your content here at WordPress.COM (nickbacashcom.wordpress.com) then yes.

If you have signed up with a different hosting provider and are going to host your content there, then no.

If the other provider has WordPress software as part of their hosting package and that is what you are doing, then you should not have to do anything, since their WordPress package should be your “public face” from that provider.

Did that answer the question better?

Did you purchase your domain name on WordPressdotcom as a part of an upgrade Plan and now you wish to use it elsewhere? If so, you can follow these directions to point your custom domain to your site hosted with ehost.

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/all-about-domains/#transfers

It can take up to 72 hours for a change in domain name servers to propagate through the internet. Be patient and clear your browser cache regularly.

If that still doesn’t answer your question or you have a further problem with this, please let us know.
