Domain mapping upgrade?

  I’ve set up bugs.dardrobotics.org to point to darcbugs.wordpress.com. This sort of redirection has already worked on another one of my blogs, but apparently I have to pay $12 just to be able to redirect my domain to this blog? Is this correct??
