Domain mapping upgrade
-
If you really think, when the majority of your paid customers just want an $18 upgrade, the solution is to lock them into a $99 upgrade, I can’t think you’ve done proper market analysis. You price it at $25 and use it as a feeder to your $99 upgrade, or change the price to $150. I mean, this isn’t hard. Jesus.

WordPress.com – this issue goes beyond people who can or cannot afford to buy the Premium Upgrade package when they only need the domain mapping. It damages the TRUST that customers have in WordPress.com.
Are you offering individual options and then offering a “package” that provides a savings for certain customers? If so this reflects back to the company that they are a great company, offering a great package.
Or, are you being manipulative in your pricing, forcing people to buy things like VideoPress and additional storage that they do not need and will never use. If so, then customers wonder why you are being so manipulative, they lose trust, and no longer think of you as a great company.
It would seem to me that the direction for you should be clear. But if not I am losing trust. Now your “free” website becomes useless, and you might as well just say the cost of a website is $99 per year. That is the message I would give to potential new customers.

Anyone looking to register or map a domain as an individual upgrade should be able to do so now. Please make a new support thread if you continue to have trouble.

thanks for some common sense coming back
What about the other Upgrades, can a person again buy individual No Ads or individual CSS or only the Space Upgrade – are they back to being able to do single upgrades?
thanks

Domain registration and mapping are the only individual upgrades available to new users.

Thanks for bringing those back.
So what’s happening with the other upgrades, Site Redirect, Unlimited Premium Themes, WPcom Enterprise and Guided Transfer? How are those being handled?
At this point I’m not going to rage against the machine, because it’s clear that this is a decision that has already been made. But, I still think it’s a mistake.

I’m interested in No Ads. I think a lot of people would like it and, as I said elsewhere, there are comparatively few who get value out of the videopress upgrade, for instance. You could increase the price to $50 without causing too much blowback, either.

Ok…. it’s irrelevant at this point. Just went ahead and added 3 gbp to just buy hosting instead of just mapping the domain… Would have done it the way i initially mentioned but yeah. Thanks though…

Are we no longer able to purchase premium themes and site redirects as individual upgrades? Please clarify here and post also here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/widgets-in-premium-themes?replies=2#post-2074485

Themes will be available as they always have.
Site Redirect (and Guided Transfer) are available individually. However, they currently require staff assistance to purchase. In the near future, staff assistance will not be required. But for now, just point anyone looking for those two upgrades to a staff member.
