domain mapping vs domain parking

    Hi,

    I would like to send traffic from my domain (registered with ntchosting.com) to my wordpress blog.

    i understand that to do the domain mapping, i will have to upgrade my wordpress account to a paid one. However, parking the domain (through ntchosting control pane) and entering the url as my word press site also seems to work. Any drawback of using this method?

    Hi. Domain mapping will change the URL of your blog from blabla.wordpress.com/… to whateveryouwant.com/… :
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

    My best guess is that domain parking just redirects whateveryouwant.com/… to blabla.wordpress.com/… without changing the URL. You can always reconfirm with NTC Hosting if that’s what they mean.

    In both cases, both the wordpress.com and the own domain name continue to work. I’ll let another volunteer fill the question of benefits/drawbacks.
