Domain Mapping Vs Transferring

  I want to build my website using wordpress. I purchased my domain with google domains, and have it linked with my microsoft 365 for emails. I am seeking the most cost effective option to build my website in a way that will not affect my current setup with microsoft 365.

  Great question! The email should not be affected with the redirecting of the domain to WordPress.com. You will have a temporary down time because the domain transfer or mapping, both take time to complete.

  The domain takes up to 72 hours to complete the mapping process. Details here: en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain

  Transfers take up to 5 days: en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer

  Both options work fine. The decision is not permanent either, you can always change your mind.
