Domain Mapping – Web Hosting Dilema

I have a free blog, lightiscolor.wordpress.com
Yesterday i bought the domain mapping package that redirects the blog to lightiscolor.com
I also bought a hosting service at laughing squid.Can i install wordpress 3.0.1? I did all the steps required and does not work.
I have a feeling that i have too buy the domain not just have it mapped!Thank You!

If you are going to use your web hosting at laughing squid, then that will be a completely stand-alone installation. To use it, you would have to un-do the domain mapping, point your domain name to laughing squid, and the export all your stuff from here and import it into the new self-hosted blog.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/Note that it will take 24-72 hours for the DNS change to take full effect and stabilize although typically it happens in 24 hours or a little less. It depends on the domain server loads and how many changes are stacked up waiting to be recorded.
