Domain Mapping When Domain (Not on WP.com) Expires

I’m looking to switch from self-hosted WP to WP.com. I own the domain, which expires in the fall.
If I get a paid personal plan and use domain mapping, will (can?) WP.com renew my domain as part of my yearly subscription when it expires. How do I enable this?
Just want to make sure before I pay and do all these changes.

If I get a paid personal plan and use domain mapping, will (can?) WP.com renew my domain as part of my yearly subscription when it expires. How do I enable this?
At this moment, WordPress.com is not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Also, domain mapping will not renew your domain.
When you purchase some of the WordPress.com plans, you will have two options:
1. Buy new domain
2. Map your existing domain to WordPress.comIn your case, domain mapping is all you need. Make sure to renew your domain with your domain provider on time.
