Domain Mapping with a Premium Theme?
-
I currently have a site started with wordpress, e.g., http://www.mysitename.wordpress.com
I already own a domain name through Network Solutions, e.g., http://www.mysitename.com
I understand I need to do “domain mapping” in order to get “www.mysitename.com” to be the URL for my wordpress site. However, I’ve already purchased and installed a premium theme (directly from wordpress), and I’m concerned about something I read on this help page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/#nameserver-instructions
It states: “The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins.”
I’m unsure what is meant about “uploading additional themes.” Does “additional” mean that I can’t change to another theme, but I’m okay as long as I stick with the premium theme I already bought and installed? Or does this mean I can’t do domain mapping because I’m using a premium theme, even though it was purchased through WordPress?
Thanks in advance!

Yyes you can have both domain mapping and a premium theme purchased through WordPress.com. What we are not able to because we don’t have FTP access is to upload third party themes from anywhere else. They are all coded to run only on WordPress.org software.

That paragraph actually refers to finding a theme on the Internet and uploading it to WordPress.com:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/It’s been added (presumably) because many people think – erroneously – that by simply having a .com address they are no longer subject to the limitations of WordPress.com anymore.
So in a nutshell: the domain mapping upgrade only changes the address your visitors see. That’s all.
