Domain Mapping with special charcter domain name
-
I am thinking about mapping my existing domain to my wordpress.com blog.
However, this domain name has two special characters (i.e. a “u” with two dots above and an “o” with two dots above). Does WordPress.com support such special characters in the URL?
Best regards, Torsten.

Probably.
What is the domain name you want to map? Please post it here
I have flagged this for staff attention to help – they can give the definitive answer

Domain mapping for IDNs, also known as Internationalized Domain Names, is not currently supported. Your domain name is an IDN if it contains language-specific characters such as ä, û, ע, ж, 字, मा.
Here’s more information on these types of domain names:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internationalized_domain_nameI hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks also – the answer is also at the bottom of the Map an Existing Domain Name – guess I should take my own advice and read the documentation!

@all:
Oh, what a pity. I like wordpress.com. Unfortunately, if it doesn’t support IDNs I can’t use it.
Thanks for your quick help anyway.
Torsten
