Domain mapping with Strato
-
Hi! I made a new website on WordPress.com to replace an existing but very old website. I’d like to use the original domain name (abada-berlin.de), which is hosted by Strato.de, however when I contacted them to change the name servers, I received this as a reply:
“It is only possible to change NS records on sub domains ths feature is not available on main domains, You could point the domain to wordpress using the Arecord feature or using a 301 redirect.”
From what I understand, I can’t use an A record redirect. What can I do?
We also have email set-up with this domain, how can I keep the addresses functional? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

While waiting you can read what follows. For domain mapping instructions see here please http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
After you make a domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

If your domain registrar doesn’t allow you to change the NS records, then you can only map a sub-domain to your WordPress.com blog. You can follow the steps in this guide on how to do that: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
