Domain Mapping with WordPress.com hosting.
-
I bought 3 domain names from wordpress.com before.
I opened a site with one of them. (Let’s name this site “A”)
I opened another site with the other one. (Let’s name this site “B”)
Let’s put the 3rd domain name C, because I haven’t created a site with it yet. Going to URL C, it redirects to URL B’s homepage.
Site “A” is not relevant to our topic.
I want site “C” to redirect to a title that I have categorized in site “B”.
So let’s give an example. When I type //www.siteC.com, I want the user to automatically go to /www.SiteB.com/Category/Example and see /www.siteC.com in explorer’s search text.
I’ve been researching the internet for 2 days. I found an option called domain mapping.
I spent 2 days trying to apply topics such as networking and multisite, which do not have enough explanations on wordpress.com, to my own site and disrupting my own site at least 4-5 times.
In fact, I’ve even seen plugins in wordpress.com’s plug-in section that pay $700 per year, claiming to do this job, and actually do nothing in wordpress.com hosted site.
Now I ask my star question. Does wordpress.com hosting support domain mapping?
I expect a “Yes/No” answer to this question. It’s not a squirming answer that goes around it.
If wordpress.com hosting does not support services such as domain mapping, alias directing, why doesn’t it explain clearly that it does not support mapping, even though it is such a detailed and well-explained platform? Believe me, I’ve seen that there is no clear answer on the internet by necroizing 10-year-old issues.
If wordpress.com does not support Mapping and redirecting multi domains to 1 site due to financial concerns, why does WordPress.com try to sell extra domain names in the admin panel, and why does not add an explanatory caption, although thousands of users are (probably) victims of this situation.

Hi there,
Mapping is connecting a domain located on one host to a site that is located on a different host. It sounds like you are wanting to redirect/forward your domain to a subpage on your site, correct?
why doesn’t it explain clearly that it does not support mapping
What you refer to as mapping is now called connecting which is why you may not see many support pages for it any longer. But, again, mapping isn’t the same as what you are describing if I am understanding you correctly. Routing a domain to a subpage isn’t possible on WordPress.com.
From what you are describing, I wanted to confirm that the site that you are wanting to do this on is hosted with us on WordPress.com? Were you wanting to do this with http://nenedennasil.wordpress.com/?

no http://nenedennasil.wordpress.com/ is the site I worked on years ago. The site automatically puts it’s link when i post here.
The site I’m working on (since I’ve switched from wordpress to another host and connected my domain name there) appears to be https://megabitcoinblog.wordpress.com/.
And my only goal is to share “posts” in different categories within the same site. For example, visit megabitcoin.blog to see the headings under the Cryptocoin category, and visit uwwu.org to see the headings called lifestyle. In this way, I want to attract different target audiences to the same site.
I got these two domain names from wordpress.com.
The worst part is, when I activated wordpress multisite on both wordpress.com and godaddy.com, I had a problem forwarding my other domain to my first domain.
When I spoke to Godaddy customer service, they told me that what I want to do requires more than one hosting account and they said that I need to buy the Pro 5 site package. (which I don’t think is true)
And I’m really lost right now.

To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:
1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.The site I’m working on (since I’ve switched from wordpress to another host and connected my domain name there) appears to be https://megabitcoinblog.wordpress.com/.
If a website is using a
*.wordpress.comURL, that website is hosted here. And my only goal is to share “posts” in different categories within the same site. For example, visit megabitcoin.blog to see the headings under the Cryptocoin category, and visit uwwu.org to see the headings called lifestyle. In this way, I want to attract different target audiences to the same site.
As stated earlier, what you’re wanting to do is not possible here at WordPress.com. While the domains were purchased here, the only way to use a domain as your primary domain is to have a paid upgrade. However, only one domain can be used as a primary for one WordPress.com hosted site. The other domain would redirect to the primary.
From your description, you would need more than one WordPress site – one for “cryptocoin” and one for “lifestyle” if you want to use a unique domain name for each. To do that on a single site, it’s likely what GoDaddy would recommend as it would involve custom code and development that would not be possible here at WordPress.com unless you upgrade to the Business plan. But, even then we can’t help with customizations of that nature and you would need to hire a developer to do that for you if you’re not sure how to set that up.
You can keep the domains registered here and update their nameservers to work on GoDaddy’s hosting or you can transfer them to GoDaddy once the 60-day transfer lock has expired.

You may also want to ask for help at the WordPress.org community forums here:
https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
The folks in the open-source forum may have an idea of how to accomplish what you’re looking to do and may have suggestions for you on how to do this.
I hope this points you in the right direction.
