Domain mapping without subscription

  Hi all. I don’t seem to be able to map my custom domain without taking out a full annual subscription. Could anyone advise? Is this a glitch?

  The Domain Mapping option is no longer available as a standalone purchase. If you wish to map your domain to WordPress.com site, you will require an upgraded plan. For more information on this please refer to the following document: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Each paid plans come with a free credit that allows you to either register a new domain or transfer/map your existing domain.
