Domain mapping w/o an upgraded plan

    Last year I was able to map my domain for $13 without having an upgraded plan. I’m having trouble finding that option now.

    I received an email to renew the mapping, but then I click the link I receive the following error: ‘Sorry, this user account does not own the product you are trying to renew.’

    Can I still map a domain without an upgraded plan?

    Hi felixchu1,

    You can only connect a custom domain to your site if you have the Premium or Business plan.

    Hello,

    You do require a business plan upgrade to connect a custom domain purchased on WordPress or elsewhere. This was introduced somewhere around the first quarter of last year.

    Just to clarify the information provided to you here, Domain mapping does require a paid plan, however, it can be any one of the plans WordPress.com offers, personal, premium or business. The most cost effective being personal. Here is a link to the pricing of the plans: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Also, I wanted to ask, is the domain you want to map, still registered? It sounds like it may have expired and this is why you are receiving an error message.

    @felixchu1 a plan is required now. We stopped offering stand-alone domain mappings some time ago.

    As Amanda mentioned, the personal plan is likely your best bet. It comes with the domain credit, it removes your ads, gives you extra space, and gives you access to direct support. Plans help us provide better support, and help us cover our costs for keeping free things free.

    Re: this message, “Sorry, this user account does not own the product you are trying to renew” please clarify what domain you are trying to map; we can take a look.
