Domain Mapping won't work?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have already purchased a domain from 1and1. The domain is ‘feetupproductions.co.uk’. I’ve followed all the steps I have been given on how to map my domain to my current blog ‘feetupproductions.wordpress.com’. Every time I confrim my paypal it takes me to the plans page and, at least that I know about, no transaction goes through. I am on the free plan but I’m willing to pay the £11. Can anyone help?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible. Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium ujpgrade bundle.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.

If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

What do you see here ?
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades?
    and here
Dashboard > Store > Billing History?

It says that I don’t have any upgrades yet and there are no matching receipts or upcoming charges.

I follow the instructions and after pressing on the domain mapping button I then put my paypal details in and confirm but that takes me to the upgrades page, the domain mapping is still in my basket, nothing has changed and I haven’t been charged.

  • Just out of curiosity, can you try doing just as you have been, but using a different browser?

i’m having the exactly same problem here.
tried it with Chrome and IE and all extensions were disabled.

I’ve tried a few times since but still nothing. Not being charged and nothing happening.

I’m having the exact same problem.

I am on the free for life plan.
I click Add a domain. (tried through both ‘Already own a domain?’ and Add a domain)
I type my domain in and click add.
Go to paypal option, change to the UK and enter my postcode. I am using a VISA DEBIT btw.
Then click pay with paypal. it thenlinks me to paypal balance £11 etc.
I agree and continue, it says processing.

then i’m back on the plans page. FREE PREMIUM OR BUSINESS.
with my £11 domain charge still in shopping basket.

My card works as it is listed in the cards that you accept and the country you accept. how can this be? I hope you can help us as i have seen other posts where people have been dismissed with the same problems timethief. an appropriate name as i have been attempting this for hours now. Thanks

    regards S
