Domain Mapping – xyztextbooksblog.wordpress.com to xyztextbooksblog.com

  I purchased the domain xyztextbooksblog.com and need to map xyztextbooksblog.wordpress.com to edit. I deleted the site xyztextbooksblog.wordpress.com earlier today. All I really need is for it to redirect users to xyztextbooks.com/blog.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I do need a bit of clarity: do you want xyztextbooksblog.com to redirect to xyztextbooks.com/blog?

  Or, did you want to get rid of xyztextbooksblog.com and xyztextbooksblog.wordpress.com altogether so you can solely focus on xyztextbooks.com/blog?

  Is there any way to have xyztextbooksblog.wordpress.com forward to xyztextbooks.com/blog? Can you manually update the dns records?

  I was under the assumption that because I deleted the blog that I cant.

  So I then purchased the domain xyztextbooksblog.com under the assumption that my deleted blog url xyztextbooksblog.wordpress.com would automatically map to it… but instead xyztextbooksblogdotwordpress.com is mapping to it.

  If its not possible to forward xyztextbooksblog.wordpress.com to anything then I will just cancel my domain purchase and move on. I just hate to have a dead end for users who may come across this old wordpress site instead of our real one located on our site.

  Hi there!

  I don’t see that xyztextbooksblogdotcom.wordpress.com is deleted. It’s empty, but the site hasn’t been deleted.

  You can use a site redirect to send visitors to xyztextbooksblogdotcom.wordpress.com (and the domain, xyztextbooksblog.com, if you’d like) to xyztextbooks.com/blog.

  Normally, we could map xyztextbooksblog.com to your self-hosted site, but we’re not able to map to a folder. The /blog at the end of your domain name indicates that this is a folder, so it’s not possible.

  If you don’t need xyztextbooksblog.com, we can cancel that. I could refund you $5. Since domain registration/mapping is $18, and site redirection is $13, I am happy to just credit your account for site mapping, and refund you the difference.

  Ah! Thank you for the further explanation. I got lost in the similarity of the blog names.

  You’re right, sadly, once it’s deleted, we can’t do a redirection from a blog that doesn’t exist anymore. So sorry I can’t be more helpful.
