  Hi, I’m trying to set up my domain name. It was available when I first did a search on wordpress. I diverted and came back to setting up my domain name and then it was no longer available. I then did a search on a 3rd party site to check the availability and it is available but for some reason, wordpress does not show this. Please help. Thanks

  What is the exact URL starting with http:// of the domain you refer to please?

  All wordpress.COM hosted blogs are on .wordpress.com sub-domains the one you deleted that is still linked to your username.

  Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and the only exceptions are made are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

  You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
