Domain name

    Hi,

    I have choosen a domain name with my WordPress plan, but it wasn’t what I expected.

    I’ve resigned my plan but the domain name is no longer available, how long will be the processus to be able to take it on another provider ?

    Hi! When you cancel a new domain it will go into holding for a bit. Registrars just do that to be sure people don’t cancel accidentally, only to have their name bought up by someone else.

    We have a few options:

    Wait: You can wait about five days for the domain to be released. So long as no one else buys it before you do, you can purchase it again here or with another provider.

    Repurchase the Domain: We can send an invoice for the domain. Once it’s restored, you will be able to use it with a monthly plan here, or you can point it to another host and transfer after 60 days.

    Purchase an Annual Plan: To host your site here after all, buy an annual plan, skip the domain option, then update us here.

    I’m guessing waiting a few more days would work best for you, but if you’d like to-re buy the domain here so you can access it faster, you will be able to point it to your new host and transfer it later. Let us know your preference. Thanks!

    Thank you for your answer but it seems that the domain name is still locked by WordPress.

    I did the cancelation on 01/08/2022, what can be done to speed up the process ?

    Sorry about that, .fr domains have some slightly different policies.

    Instead, I have restored the domain to your account, and you can transfer it to another registrar by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/
