domain name
-
I looked in the faqs for this before I posted this. I didn’t find the answer, unless it was one that I don’t understand. Which could be true very easily, I’m not very good at the website language, etc., in fact, I’m not good at all, there are very few things I understand about websites!!!
Here’s my questions –
if I get my domain name through wordpress ~ is it good everywhere – like if I have a “website” professionally built for me, will it be valid there, can I use it there, or is it just good here at wordpress?
If I get my domain name through wordpress ~ do I always pay the yearly fee to wordpress, and I can keep my domain name as long as I pay?
If I get my domain name through wordpress ~ the .wordpress comes out of my name, correct?
Thanks for any help, and, I appreciate your patience with me.

I’ll give you a link to all the information, but in a nutshell: domain registration (buying and owning the name) and domain mapping (using that name on your wordpress.com blog to make it appear like it’s hosted elsewhere and, yes, the wordpress comes out of your url) are two separate things. Each carries an annual fee.
You pay the domain name registration to wordpress unless you transfer it (you don’t have to, even if you take your blog elsewhere) and it’s yours as long as you make the annual payment. HTH
