  I just today downgraded my subscription with wordpress but wanted to keep the domain that I registered, joelledavisinteriors.com. I think I may have lost the direct domain somehow when I downgraded. How do I get that domain back without the .wordpress in the address?

  Hello,

  Did you downgrade to a free plan?
  The free plan ends with “wordpress.com”

  For a custom domain you need one of the paid WordPress.com plans or another hosting.

  If not downgraded to the free plan, in this case
  it’s possible that your plan or domain may have expired.

  It looks like you only registered your domain today. What were your plans for that custom domain? Did you want to use it at some other host? If you cancelled it along with any plan you no longer own it and risk losing it. This thread is tagged for staff assistance.

  @jdinteriorsllc: Canceling a domain does not make it immediately available to repurchase elsewhere. Here are the available options for you:

  Wait: You can wait about five days from cancellation for the domain to be released. So long as no one else buys it before you do, you can purchase it again with another provider.

  Repurchase the Domain: We can send an invoice and restore the domain. You’ll be able to point it to a new host as soon as it’s restored, then transfer the registration after 60 days.

  Repurchase a Plan: To host your site here, buy an annual plan, skip the domain option, and update us here.
