  Hi there,
  I’m wondering is there a way to build a school website on WordPress and employ the country domain in the site address? We are an Irish school and would like the site to be have .ie in the domain?

  Hi there,

  We offer custom domains on WordPress.com, but we are not licensed to register domains under the .ie extension.

  It is possible to use a .ie address for your WordPress.com site but to do so, you will need to register your domain with a company that offers .ie domain extensions.

  On our end, once you own your URL (with another company), you can use domain settings to connect your domain to us, allowing your site to use the custom address instead of the “wordpress.com” address we provide by default.

  To connect to a domain you own with your .ie domain provider, you can upgrade to any of the plans mentioned here, which all come with the domain connection option: https://wordpress.com/plans/.

  Once you purchase your domain, if you need help connecting, please let us know, and we will be happy to walk you through the process at that time.
