Domain name

  Hi there,

  I just created and deleted a blog with domain name ‘hotmessgoddess.wordpress.com’ for free. What I really want to do is switch my current blog ‘gettingupsober.wordpress.com’ to that other domain name. However, even though I’ve deleted that blog and it technically should be available for free now, it’s not showing up. Is there a waiting period, or is there anything that you can do to help? I literally just did this all in the space of a few minutes… I’m really hoping that I can get this secured!

  Hi Laura –

  Deleted blogs cannot be restored or reused. Deleting a blog is permanent and the name cannot be used again.

  There are several warnings about this on the Tools -> Delete Site page and in the help pages, and you are required to confirm the deletion by typing the complete site address into a confirmation box.

  Hi Liz,

  Thank you so much for your reply – what a bummer! Never mind though. I can always invest in the .com domain if I feel like it’s worth it… and I have already transferred that over, so I think that I am good.
