  Hi, I’m trying to register for the domain name http://www.ontheflipside.wordpress.com. Although the website says it is unavailable, searching that domain on the web says that the domain is no longer in use.

  Is it possible to register for this domain name?

  Deleted wordpress.COM blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and the only exceptions are made are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

  You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
