domain name
-
Hello, I recently had a site but had to move it onto a new wordpress site. But, I had already purchased the domain name (nycfcsource.com), when transferring all my stuff I had issues since the blocksy theme wouldn’t work on my new wordpress editor. But the main issue is that I can’t change nycfcsource6.wordpress.com to the domain I already own, nycfcsource.com. Please help, my site has been down for over a month and I haven’t been able to fix the issue.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out and we can definitely help with next steps.
But the main issue is that I can’t change nycfcsource6.wordpress.com to the domain I already own, nycfcsource.com
The domain can be connected as per these steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
The name servers of the domain would need to change to:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.comTo note, there would need to a paid plan (at a minimum the personal plan)
when transferring all my stuff I had issues since the blocksy theme wouldn’t work on my new wordpress editor.
Do you still wish to use the blocksy theme? If yes, and you still have access to the site – it can be migrated across using this plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/
In order to use a third party theme, the site would need a business plan:
I hope this helps so far!

How come I need to pay now? On my original site I didn’t need a plan to have nycfcsource.com as my name. Is there a way that this can be fixed for me? I payed for the site domain already and used it for over a month.

Hi there!
You must have paid for the hosting services to host your domain and the WordPress site with another hosting provider.
On WordPress.com, basic hosting is free, and you can add more features (such as the ability to use a custom domain or install plugins) by upgrading to various WordPress.com plans. You can check out our plans and pricing here.
We recommended the Business plan because it will allow you to import your entire site and use third-party themes — like Blocksy.
Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have more questions. We’ll be happy to help you further.
Regards

I payed for nothing before, but was able to do it all. But at this point, all I need is to change my site name to the one I already had purchased.

It looks like you bought a plan a while ago, which is how you connected your domain before. Then canceled it and got a refund. That’s probably why it worked for a bit, but you do need paid hosting to connect a domain here.
I noticed https://nycfcsource6.wordpress.com/ seems to be finished; if you want to make that live, you’ll only need the Personal Plan, which you can get here:
Once you have that, you can reconnect the domain using these steps, or we’d be happy to help if needed.

Alright, thank you! If I pay for one month, and switch my domain name back. Will my domain name switch back once the paid plan expires?

Hi there!
Yes. A WordPress.com plan is mandatory to add and set a domain as the primary address. If the plan expires, the domain connection will also be removed (and if it’s a registered domain, it will redirect to the WordPress.com address).
