Domain name

Hello, I created a new website and I pirchased a new domain name. A few hours later, I decided to delete all, but now I see the domain name is not deleted but “parked by Automattic” and will expire in one year… How can I expire it now? Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello
If you cancelled the domain in your purchases, All you have left to do is follow the instructions in the cancellation link in the email you receive. Note that you have to cancel the plan first, and you have 2 days to cancel the domain.

    best,

Hello to all, thank you for your messages,
I already deleted the plan and the domain name and received a confirmation mail.
Now, I would like to use the same domain name somewhere else, is it possible?
When I click on the domain name, Google shows a page by Automattic which shows : “this domain is parked with Automattic”, so Automattic has not deleted it…
Thank you in advance for your help.

I see that the only solution I have is to wait one year, so that the domain name will be automatically expired, is there any other solution? thank you very much.

@pavanraheja – `no worries, as long as the questions are answered it is all good!

    @keyvansheikh
    – the very first sentence in the link we both gave you says

Warning: after cancellation, there is no guarantee the domain will become available to register somewhere else, and you may not be able to get it back.

You can try and re-register the domain somewhere else, no guarantees on when or if that may be possible.

    Hi keyvansheikh,

Now, I would like to use the same domain name somewhere else, is it possible?

If you plan to use a domain again in the future, we don’t recommend cancelling it.

There are two options for moving forward:

    1. I can restore the domain — the domains costs haven’t been refunded yet so this will cover the cost. You can then transfer the domain 60 days after the registration date. This 60 day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived.

During that 60 days, the domain can be pointed to another site.

As you’ve already deleted your site, I would need you to create another site in the same account so I can add the domain back.

    2. Wait for the domain to become available. As you cancelled the domain so soon after registration, it should released in about a week. This is the riskier option as there is no guarantee you will get it back again.

Let me know which option you prefer.
