  Hi!

  Excuse my bad english but I have a problem…

  I recently contacted you because I could not use a theme bought on wordpress.COM, I had bought a domain name for my blog directly on wordpress.COM.
  Seeing that I could not have a site as pretty as I would have liked, I decided to go to wordpress.ORG. Believing I did well, I went to the tab ‘manage my purchases’ and ended the subscription that allowed me to have my domain name. Thinking that I could do the same thing (purchase a domain name and be able to apply it on my website as simply as I did…). But it is not the case … And when i go to my ‘Old domain name that I bought (https://www.makeuplau.com), and I’d like to retrieve, I come across an ad’ this domain is parading with … ‘…
  I went to the GoDaddy site to check the availability of the domain name that says it is already taken, even if I gave it up on it.

  How do I retrieve this domain name on wordpress.org? Or can I get it on wordpress.COM and then transfer it to wordpress.ORG? I am ready to repay the same subscription that I had but I am lost, I would like to know how to make it work…

  I hope I was clear enough in my explanations, thanks a thousand times for your help !!

  You created the domain on the 22nd April and have presumably now received a refund for domain and upgraded WordPress.com plan. If that address is really important to you then if there is the possibility of re-purchasing it here that may be the quickest and safest solution as you could lose it altogether. Then you may be able to transfer the domain to GoDaddy at some point in the future. I have added modlook and in due course staff should respond and explain your options.

  Ok so it would be ok for me to purchase it here and then how could I be able to “transfer” it to my wordpress.ORG? I don’t understand how I can do that… And I can’t find any help on internet, really I’m lost with domain names on wordpress.ORG… Thanks a lot for your quick response!!

  Hi there,

  Cancelled domain names are not released immediately, but depending on the domain and when you cancelled it it can take anything from 5 days to over a year before the domain becomes available again. Your domain, makeuplau.com, won’t be released until after it expires in April next year, but I can still restore it for you.

  Once restored, you can point it to a different hosting provider, and you can transfer it away after you’ve owned it for 60 days. Please confirm if you want me to restore the domain.

  If I should restore the domain, please also create a new free site in your account to which I can link it, otherwise you won’t be able to access the domain’s settings to point it elsewhere, or to transfer it later.

  Hi!

  Thanks a lot! I understand it better now. So yes, I’d like to restore the domain name, here my new free site “https://lauradmakeup.wordpress.com”.

  And than I can transfer it to wordpress.ORG after 60 days is that correct?

  I’ve restored your domain, so you should now be able to access it again via My Site ->Domains.

  For now, you can point your domain to another service. Ask your hosting provider for their name servers or their IP address – you should find that information on their “Connect a domain” screen – and add them to your domain here. Full instructions at the link below.

  Then after 60 days if you want, you can transfer the domain to them completely, so you’ll pay them for the domain’s annual renewal instead of us.
